In the Laboratory of Advanced Bioenergetics (LAB), we make use of innovative research methods in the field of ecophysiology to answer questions linked to the management and conservation of aquatic organisms. We use laboratory-based experiments, field studies, and computer simulations to develop bioenergetics models that allow us to predict the growth and food requirements of these organisms under different environmental conditions. We focus primarily on topics pertaining to commercial fisheries, aquaculture, and conservation of species at risk. Our work takes place in freshwater, estuarine, and marine ecosystems and focuses primarily on fish species even though we have had projects focusing on invertebrates as well.
